Default Craving fear - 05-09-2008, 04:21 AM

When I was but a lad their was one thing that was always lurking and waiting in the shadows, whether it was in my closet or under my bed it was always there. To this day I know this day I know that nothing is going to grab me, when the lights go out, but there is still that place in my mind that says "What if?". I am revealing this because I believe that fear is one of the few emotions that is pure and cannot be faked and I really wish that someone out there would bring it to life in a video game, because I love the feeling of not knowing. I think Resident Evil, the original on PS, is the only game that I played that actually touched on that raw emotion and actually made me stop at times to turn the light on.

Alone in the dark I am afraid
Frightened by the fact I can not see
and fearful of the things that may
Or may not be.......

Resident Evil was always coolness, but the whole zombie factor was kind of lost on me. Most likely because I'm going on 30 next year and I've watched and seen more zombie related material than I can possibly count. The survival/horror series that always gave me that feeling of dread whilst entering that new room wherever you happened to be was Fatal Frame. That series freaked me out far more than any RE game ever has. Personal note, mind you.

I meant when it first came out back in '96, I think I was about 18, and we used to get messed up and play it late at night in the dark, drugs probably helped alot. There wasn't a big zombie craze then as for Fatal Frame never played it but I might have to check it out. In retrospect I turn 31 this year and zombies don't work anymore but I am still a big fan of RE.

I am a girl when it comes to scary stuff. I play fighting games, shooters, rpgs, action, pretty much everything, except scary games. I refused to play RE, when I was a lil kiddo I just watched my cousin play. And that had me scared enough.

As for things I crave, White Castle comes to mind.

Agreed, man back then it could certainly make you jump just out of sheer surprise. Yeah, Fatal Frame is about hunting ghosts with nothing more than a camera. Not to mention one of the darkest atmospheres I've ever seen in a horror series. Truly a freaky mix.

I thought White castle was just a movie.....

I know what game you are talking about now and didn't think I would like it because I assumed there would be no action, maybe I should have gave it a chance.
