Sony has announced details on the induction of the Skype IP Phone Service being added in with other updates on Firmware 3.93 for the PlayStation Portable. This update will be added into the XMB once you upgrade to the new firmware released in late April. Much like the original PC version of Skype, you will be able to access your existing account or create a new one for use on your PSP.
Also much like the PC counterpart of this program, the owner of the PSP will be able to send and receive free Skype-To-Skype calls, Skype-In and Skype-Out with Cellular and Home Phones and send and receive alerts of Online Status.
The PSP Microphone has also been announced to come out near the release of Firmware 3.93 and will come with the PSP Talkman Software to update the system for the functionality of the microphone.
The only downside to this new update are for owners of the Original PlayStation Portable as it does not support this update. So anyone owning a PSP older than the Slim And Lite 2000 Model will need to upgrade to the new system before takin advantage of this new software.
