The Japanese have always had a flair to scare the crap out of anyone, whether through movies, games, or weird anime. But the scare tactics don't stop there. Just head over to the official Japanese PlayStation site and have a share of the freaky viral marketing. The site has a countdown, which is currently at 51 hours, as well as a myriad of scary noises and dialog.

Just as to what it is, we don't know. However the folks over at Kotaku are placing there bets on Siren 3, which seems legitimate. Keep your eyes peeled for an update from us as to what it is; we will get nightmares for you.

Agreed. Japanese horror games can surely bring about a genuine sense of dread. 2 words: Fatal Frame. It's just extremely unfortunate that the sequel to the PS2 games is a Wii exclusive...

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but this countdown is for the japanese PS3 game "Siren". A demo is supposed to appear sometime in the next week.

Yeah that's what Kotaku thought and I also heard reports that it was in fact confirmed to be Siren, but I have been too swamped to write a follow up. Sorry
