Default Sony: PlayStation to Continue Strong Through 2008 - 04-19-2008, 12:40 AM

Despite a slight setback, the PlayStation brand in its entirety has remained strong, refusing to let our "economically challenging times" be a deterrent to their success over their competitors.

Jack Tretton of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA), speaking to the media, is quoted as saying "Our sales momentum continues to defy what is traditionally a sluggish sales month,”

Furthermore, he stated that the "PS3 continued the strong momentum with a year-over-year sales growth of over 98 per cent. It is proof that, in these economically challenging times, consumers recognize the long-term value of our platforms and the tremendous heritage of our brand in delivering the best entertainment experience." in response to the most recent NPD data.

As a side note, in keeping with the "tremendous heritage", the PSP has done exceedingly well by maintaining a #1 spot in Japan. More proof to the fact that the PlayStation brand has indeed remained strong and will continue to do so throughout the year of 2008.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that the PS3 is getting far stronger in 2008. Sony is an established brand, both software and hardware. We will only see things get better as time goes on.

It doesn't suprise me that the PS3 is doing strong. It won't suprise me if it outsells the other next-gen consoles by millions.

sony really put most of it's effort of the first year establishing Blu-ray as the victor in the format war. Now that the war is over and done with, Sony will focus primarily on the games and the PS3 mulit-media itself. Sony always knew what games were coming out and roughly when they will be released. They know all the little/big secrets we only dream of knowing. It's full steam ahead and there's not much to stop a juggernaut once it gets going.
